Covered Bridge Engagement Session in Greenville, SC | Emma + Andrew

When beginning to write this blog post of Emma and Andrew’s Covered Bridge Engagement Session, I was immediately reminded of a movie quote (as I always am if you know anything about me). This particular quote was from the beloved movie Megamind and it went like this:

“Here’s my day so far; went to jail, lost the girl of my dreams and got my butt kicked pretty good. Still, things could be a lot worse. Oh, that’s right…I’m falling to my death. Guess they can’t. How did it all come to his you ask? My end starts at the beginning, the very beginning!”

I believe this quote came to mind because it was for SURE the most adventurous shoot I’ve ever had. We began by going to Campbell’s Covered Bridge outside Greenville, SC to capture their engagement session, where we were serenaded almost the entire time by what appeared to be in extremely intoxicated man. It was definitely an experience and he absolutely got Andrew and Emma to smile in the pictures. SO when you see laughter, it’s not because I told them to laugh, but rather, because our sweet friend was literally jumping up and down and trying to get them to smile like they were 5-year-olds. LOL

Covered Bridge Engagement Session

I noticed on the drive over to the bridge that there was a gigantic golden-looking field that I thought would be perfect for portraits. So after our eventful time at the bridge, we jumped in our cars (as fast as possible) and drove over to the field. And just like that, adventure number two was about to begin. The field had purple berries like I had never seen before. These berries had an explosive effect and when they (hypothetically) popped, purple PERMANENT die saturated everything it touched.

Well, I was fortunate enough to discover this for myself as I was informing the couple, “Oh it’s safe to climb down into this field”… Cue Morgan wiping out completely. The berries immediately did their job and just like that, I looked like a victim of a serious gunshot wound. We finally made it down into the field just as a sweet man (not the one from the bridge) drove past. He was kind enough to inform us of the man who owned his property and was VERY protective of it. We looked at each other, paused, and said “Well, we didn’t risk our lives climbing down here for nothing” so we got the pictures we needed and literally ran out. Well, I ran out. Andrew picked up Emma and gracefully carried her out which led to even MORE cute pictures.

We concluded the session by jumping over to one more field. This one was public…. We think. And wouldn’t you know it, other than stepping in an anthill, nothing else went “wrong.” 😉

So ALL of that to say, Emma and Andrew are CHAMPS and I rarely even had to pose them because I just happened to grab their real candid emotions through all of the craziness.

What a shoot. Man, I love being a photographer!
